Analytics Guide

Turn QR code data into actionable insights.

Understanding Your Analytics Dashboard

Open the analytics page for any QR code by clicking the chart icon in your Dashboard. You'll see scan data across the retention window for your plan.

Key Metrics

  • Total Scans: Every scan of the QR code, including repeat visits from the same person.
  • Unique Visitors: Deduplicated by IP address within a day — a better measure of actual reach.
  • Scan Timeline: Chart of scan volume over time. Hourly resolution on Starter and above; daily on Free.

Geographic Insights

The By Country table shows which countries your scans are coming from, sorted by volume. Use this to:

  • Confirm that location routing rules are working (e.g., US visitors should appear in the US row)
  • Spot unexpected international traffic from a digitally-shared QR image
  • Decide whether a geographic rule is worth adding

The By City table shows city-level breakdown within those countries. Cities with fewer than 10 unique visitors are omitted to protect individual privacy — this is expected behavior, not missing data.

Device, Browser & OS

The By Device section breaks traffic into mobile, desktop, and tablet.

  • Most printed QR traffic is mobile — a high desktop share usually means the QR is being shared as a link rather than scanned from print.
  • Use device data to decide whether your landing page needs a mobile-first layout.

The By Browser and By OS tables show which browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.) and operating systems (Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, etc.) are driving your scans.

  • A dominant iOS + Safari share confirms your audience is scanning from iPhones — test your landing page there first.
  • A large Android share with mixed browsers means testing on Chrome and Samsung Internet matters.
  • OS data only builds forward from when you first started receiving scans — it will be empty for older QR codes until new scans come in.

Data Retention by Plan

How far back your analytics reach depends on your plan:

  • Free: 7 days (daily resolution)
  • Starter: 7 days (hourly resolution)
  • Pro: 30 days (hourly resolution)
  • Business: 365 days (real-time)
  • Elite: Forever (real-time)

Using Analytics to Optimize

Pro Tips

  • Schedule promotions during peak scan times visible in the timeline
  • Check device, browser, and OS data before deciding how to build or optimise your landing page
  • Use country and city breakdowns to validate geographic routing rules before a campaign goes live
  • Compare scan volume across A/B test variants to find the better-performing destination
