QRZY vs QR Code Monkey

QR Code Monkey is one of the best free tools for making a good-looking static QR code: custom shapes, gradients, your logo, vector downloads, no cost. What it can't do is change. Its own FAQ says the codes are static and can't be edited again, so a moved menu or a typo means a reprint. QRZY makes dynamic codes: print once, then change where the code points, schedule it by time or date, and see the scans.

When to choose each

Q
Choose QRZY if…

The code goes on something printed in volume or kept on display (menus, packaging, signs, business cards), and the link might change, or you want scan counts or time-based routing.

B
Choose QR Code Monkey if…

The link will never change, you want maximum design control (shapes, gradients, EPS files) and you need nothing after printing: no edits, no analytics.

Where QRZY wins

  • Dynamic codes you can repoint after printing, on every plan, without reprinting.
  • Scan counts on every plan, so you know whether a printed code is being used.
  • Time, date and day-of-week rules on Free; device, A/B split, location, language and scan-count rules on paid plans.
  • A short link keeps the printed code small: at most a 29 x 29 grid at the default error correction.
  • Short links are never reassigned to another account.

  • Far more design control: body and eye shapes, gradients, logo upload.
